DOMESTIC PUMP TANKS
Pump Tanks are alternative system installed after the septic tank if the land has unsuitable soil, poor drainage or a difficult layout for typical trenches / drain fields. The purpose of the pump tank is to collect wastewater from the septic tank and disperse it to trenches / drain fields or a Domestic Holding Tank.
A pump tank is typically small, made of concrete, fibre glass, or polyethylene with a submersible pump inside close to the inlet from the septic tank. The pump will have an automatic float switch; once the wastewater level reaches a specific height the pump will disperse the wastewater into drain field or a Holding Tank.
Pump tanks need frequent cleaning to prevent a build-up of lint and sludge that can affect the life and reliability of the pump. The service frequency will depend on the effluent being dispersed through the tank and the efficiency and service frequency of the septic tank. A typical pump tank should be pumped out once a year and inspected regularly.
For pump information please contact the pump manufacturer or a qualified pump technician.

Always make sure a pump tank is accessible for regular inspections and maintenance. Do not plant any trees or shrubs close enough for their roots to enter the tank or pipework. For pump information please contact the pump manufacturer or a qualified pump technician.
Sewer Pump Tank
A sewer pump tank is usually installed in suburban areas where the dwelling isn’t able to drain into the town sewer system efficiently. They require a pump to pump the waste into the sewer system. These pump tanks are typically small tank under 2,000 litres, made of concrete, fibre glass, or polyethylene with a submersible pump inside.
Pump tanks need frequent cleaning to prevent a build-up of lint and sludge that can affect the life and the reliability of the pump. The service frequency will depend on the effluent being dispersed through the tank, the pump technician may advise you on how often the tank requires a periodic pump out.
Always make sure a pump tank is installed where a truck can access to pump out the waste and is accessible for regular inspections and maintenance. Do not plant any trees or shrubs close enough for their roots to enter the tank or pipework.
